Such a beautifully written song. I remember it from my childhood. Never really paid attention to the lyrics until today. It's October 2024. I'm 64 years old.

Can you believe it, I was a 15 y/o white boy buying Dionne Warwick albums in the 60s. I still love her.

This song was a warning to those aspiring actors, directors and film critics that LA can crush dreams and is filled with people happy to step over bodies. San Jose is home...peaceful, welcoming and comforting. Dionne's call is even more pertinent today than in the 60's. Find your own San Jose, reach your dreams and be happy!

God, what a lovely woman. Her music is mana from heaven. Loved to have lived the 60's.

I lived in San Jose when this song came out. I recall being 11 years old at night in the car with my mom. Headlights flashing and rain falling as this song played. It was a trip.

Not her biggest hit, but one of the most recognizable. A true classic that will stand the test of time.

During my life of 70 years this song holds the memory of me having my Tonsils removed at the age of 15, with 3 days listening to this being repeated every hour on hospital radio.
Forever addicted to the Lovely comforting voice of Dionne Warwick
