They hate Genshin and Hoyoverse so much, and yet they still play the games, they still roll for the characters, and they still do fan art and cosplays for the characters, so what’s the point of these “boycotts?” They’re just gonna go back to the games in under 3-4 days regardless

Calling local officials for something Hoyoverse is doing is lowkey kinda insane and this is coming from an ex genshin fan 😭

Mark my words: The moment this boycott blows over, they'll go back to playing Genshin like nothing happened.

I've seen it happen with another game called Cookie Run when they were "boycotting" it over costumes and two new characters (Centipede Cookie and Black Pepper Cookie), even I was one of the dumbasses that fell for it.

Once it blew over, me and many others went back to playing.

It's the same here.

they no longer see the difference between reality and fictional, how pitiful

I'm a Latino (mexican btw) and the only thing that will upset me in the Natlan update will be if they put rice in the burrito recipe in the game, that's a mission(California) style burrito, a scam made to fill you with rice, and don't make me start with the hard shell "taco"...
that's a tostada

They hate Genshin, they hate Twitter.
They keep using both.

Make it make sense.

i honestly don't see the problem at all, i'm a latinamerican person myself and i couldn't care less about the skin of the characters, i see the inspiration about some parts of latin america and i'm happy for that, this drama is making me actually more annoyed for something that has to do with my own culture or at least from the same region i'm from

It didn't work when Sumeru came out, it ain't gonna work now. The one thing that's factual here is if it isn't the CN that's crying and complaining, they're not doing anything to it

Genshin Twitter trying to not be racist, but being racist anyway

When aren't they upset with anything

Twitter is harassing critics of AC Shadows, claiming that all the talk about cultural appropriation and rewriting history is a cover for racists.
Twitter is also deliberately using talk of cultural appropriation as a cover to harass Mihoyo.

A huge part of the problem is these people believe and WANT the government to be able to impose their whims on everyone else.

"It took me a min to google search to research how you whitewash these character"- twitter

Yeah but google is banned in china 🗿

its not like they're doing historical inaccuracy like what Ubisoft is doing with AC Shadows
Just because Genshin is referencing some elements from IRL cultures, doesn't mean it should fully represent that referenced culture

This was the same with Sumeru 2 years ago.

Genshin players don't care about diversity. I bring it up in Genshin subreddits all the time how I want a plus size character that parries with his belly and I always get downvoted.

people with no problems will make them up artificially.

I’m a Genshin Impact fan, been playing for a while now (as you can tell from my pfp and I love the game. It’s fun and I enjoy meeting and pulling for new characters in the game. I’m also Hispanic/Latina! I’d just like to share my thoughts. (sorry if it doesn’t make sense i don’t know how to word things out lol)

I’m disappointed with the lack of diversity in terms of skin color in the game, but I think people need to understand that, in terms of representing culture, Genshin does a fantastic job. The only issue is the way they make most of the characters very pale or at the least only light brown. It’s weird when the enemies or just npcs are the ones with darker colors.

However, I’m still going to play the game. Maybe it’s easier for me because I’ve been F2P since the first day I started the game and I’ll firmly stay F2P. I still love this game and I think expecting the government of all people to do something is really unrealistic. Do I hope that the outcries eventually reach Hyv’s offices and they decide to do better when it comes to color representation? Yes, of course! It’d be awesome. Am I going to whine and cry if nothing changes? No, not really. It’ll suck, but we’ll move on. It also doesn’t seem like the “boycott” will do much due to how quickly Genshin fans will switch up. I was one of the people who was disappointed by Nahida’s design only to end up loving her and even pulling for her after I actually played the story.

If GI fans really want Hyv to do something, then do it. Stop spending money on it lol it’s actually not that hard. Keep the conversation going and hope the Chinese community will end up convincing the character designers and developers to finally darken playable skin tones. But we can also remember it’s just a game!

P.S, idk if I would outright call Hyv racists? I mean they clearly do a lot of research when it comes to representing the cultures they base their regions off of and even hire POC voice actors (for the English dub anyway, idk if the same could be said for the other dubs). Maybe a more proper term would be colorist, but still.

Anyway rant over have a nice day everyone :] remember to be respectful!
