For The Economist, France have been a "flawed democracy" almost every year since 2010 which means it shouldn't be blue. Currently Brazil is closer to France than Canada. There are other countries that are blue here and that are flawed democraties.
Below, I give just one good reason why my country is currently a "flawed democracy" (there is much more to say about it, and there are probably things we don't know).
This year, the president has cheated to be reelected. How? Just like in most democraties, there is a debate before elections. Our president said he wouldn't attend the debate usually organized before the first round, and then, the TV channel that was supposed to organize it, cancelled it, and replaced it with monologues so he could participate without having to justify his nonsensical program and past actions. What should have happened, in a real democracy, is the TV channel doesn't care about this clown and keeps organizing a real debate with the candidates who want to attend it. At the second round, he attended the debate probably because his opponent was a nationalist that isn't too dangerous for him in a debate.

It's a bit confusing, because the map didn't show border changes.

"Well, as you can clearly see, the democrato-meter is very clearly showing all the places that used massive amounts of slaves are clearly more democratic than the ones where asians and blacks live"

This graphic is about as useful as billionaires.

До создания СССР, территории нынешних Финляндии, Польши, Украины и других стран, входящих ранее в РИ, являлись частью Российской Империи. Так какого чёрта в них демократии больше, чем в России?! С нулевой секунды понял, что видео - бред

Freedom in capitalist society always remains about the same as it was in the ancient Greek republics: freedom for the slaveowners. Owing to the conditions of capitalist exploitation, the modern wage slaves are so crushed by want and poverty that “they cannot be bothered with democracy, ” “cannot be bothered with politics”; in the ordinary, peaceful course of events, the majority of the population is debarred from participation in public and political life. “ — Vladimir Lenin, Russian politician, anti-war activist, one of the leaders of the October Revolution.

If democracy is omnipotent and the whole world regards it as a treasure, then from 2015-2021 South American countries and African countries should be more economically developed and technologically and militarily powerful than China. Only a political system that matches the national conditions of different countries (ethnic characteristics, geographical location, natural environment, historical issues) can realize the potential of the country and make people's lives better. Blindly advocating the so-called "democracy" is a trap for developed and democratic countries, and underdeveloped countries cannot escape the fate of being "colonized and manipulated" by social media and money controlled "election"from outsider countries

In Japan, democracy began to permeate the country around the beginning of the 20th century. So it is strange that there has been no change.
There was a convention that the emperor always approved the decisions of the Diet. After World War I, universal suffrage was held and the majority party assumed executive power.
In the 30s all parties were dissolved, the parliament ceased to function, and the country became a military dictatorship.

I really appreciate your work but this index is cheap propaganda. Countries with colonial political systems where many inhabitants did not have citizenship cannot lead the lists of democracy. Even countries featured on this map, like Canada and Australia, had segregationist laws. The census vote in countries like the United Kingdom and the Netherlands continued to exist until well into the 20th century, but on this map it seems as if they were already full democracies at that time. NATO propaganda has done terrible damage to history.
