Thank you for your videos! Only a question: there is a bit of confusion about ExtendScript Toolkit itself (not the debugger extension inside VS code): it is not clear if it's still available or not. Searching on the web it seems to be not supported anymore.

12:17 I would have liked to see an example on how this break point watching the values of these variables work. I added a break point like you then launched and tried to find the values of a and b could not find it, tried to click on call stack to see if its possible to add a or b to be able to obsevre their values and I did not find. I am not too familiar with it, but it would have been a nice addition since you mentioned it. Althought I would have liked if you shared more lines of codes examples..

13:52 - this is the thing which worked in the past, but stopped quite a long time ago now. You see, you clicked on "Global" but it failed to showcase objects in the global scope. Thus, making it impossible to explore object models at the global range. Any chance someone knows how to sort this out? Been trying to find an answer for prolonged time - unsuccessfully. Great walkthrough video though, N!

As a result of my own efforts, I am getting an error and I haven't been able to solve it yet; Message small window. Error: The application specified by 'indesingn-17.064' is not currently running. I ran into this nonsense where it doesn't see the script I just created in the specified work folder. Curiously enough, when I navigate to that folder in Finder, there's nothing in it (i.e., no _.vscode_ sub-folder with the JSON and the .JSX). However, when I use the _Reveal in Finder_ feature, it's all there. Either way, when I try to run the debugger it says _Not found._ ???

Hi Nate, VSCode has been working great for a long time but not sure if Adobe or MS have changed something because i've started getting 2 warnings in launch.json saying "This property is deprecated. Please use "script" instead." and "Property stopOnEntry is not allowed.". I can still load my script from within AE but it's a hassle and much better when it automatically opens upon hitting F5. Have you encountered this? Cheers

If you have a newer Mac with an M1 chip, this procedure is not going to work - see "Known Issues" while installing ExtendScript Debugger. Don't ask me how to solve this, as I'm no expert and wasn't able to find a solution - too complicated.

I've been using Visual Studio for plug-ins and Atom for scripts, , think I'll switch to Visual Code, or can we simply use Visual Studio for scripts using the same method?

Tested with Adobe InDesign 2023 and it wouldn't work. When I switched back to InDesign in 2022 it worked.

And honestly this guide is such a help. What a dumpster fire of an Extension in general. I can't believe we went from ExtendScript to this junky after thought extension. Something is better than nothing.
