Could you make a video about history books that you liked and that talked about ancient history and mythology? I’ve been really interested to learn more about ancient history for some time now ☺️

Love that you do “backlist” and not just books that have been released in 2024! ❤

House of Hunger was great and really has stuck with me! I have added all three nonfiction books you mentioned to my TBR now 😊

Sylvia Townsend Warner is a such an interesting author. Her book 'A True Heart' is a subtle retelling of Psyche and Eros. And 'Mr. Fortune's Maggot' is an introspective twist on colonialism and christian missions. Her short stories are also great and unexpected. I am so happy you loved 'Lolly Willowes'. 🥰📚🐱

The Hedgewitch series is so charming and cozy! I'm really looking forward to the 3rd book, Seawitch, that comes out in September. Agree that Leina and the Lord is stunning 😍 I keep it out on display. Have you read Diavola by Jennifer Thorne? I recently read it, and really enjoyed it. It's a great Summer vacation horror of the modern gothic genre. I'm currently reading Dallergut Dream Department Store, the British Library Women Writer's Stories for Summer, and The Dead House by Billy O'Callaghan.

About myths and their relevance throughout time, have your read Natalie Haynes’ Pandora’s Jar? It does something similar(-ish). And I think her latest non-fiction is the same, though I’m not 100% sure!

I read Women’s Lore after you mentioned it before and I absolutely loved it ❤.

I think you would enjoy Young Hag by Isabel Greenberg. It’s a graphic novel written and drawn by the author, and it’s a sort of Arthurian myth re-examination for 9-12 year olds. It reminded me of Nimona (similar vibes) and I thought it was excellent!

I read my first Sylvia Townsend Warner this year too, Summer Will Show, and it completely blew me away! her writing is amazing. I've picked up her The Corner that Held Them and will hopefully get into that soon

It's so nice to hear your favorites so far! Thank you for sharing ☺Also, if it helps at all, in the US "college" and "university" are the same thing (usually it depends on the institution's name and size which one it is)! Typically folks do middle school (roughly 12-14 years old and generally 6th, 7th, and 8th grades, although it depends) and then high school (roughly ages 14-18, grades 9-12), and then college after that (and we call it "going to college" even if you're attending a university) 💟

I've been really enjoying Emma Southon's works on Ancient Rome! They're really funny and have a feminist perspective so they're an easy win for me.

I find the college bit confusing too haha, in Canada college and university are super different but in the US for example they're used very interchangeably. I'm guessing in this case it's also a university style institution?

House of Hunger is one of my favourite books ever! I’ve reread it the last two years, and will definitely be doing a third this spooky season! Also, you’ve got me intrigued - what do you have instead of colleges in Scotland?! I’m from the South of England and we have school (which finishes at 16), then sixth form or college from 17-18, and then uni?!

Wonderful video! Lots of good suggestions. As an American could you please answer a question for me. What kind of accent do you have? It is wonderful.

Adding Lolly Willowes and Woman's Lore to my TBR! Honestly, I prefer Satanic witches both in fiction and in non-fiction and want to see more of these portrayed in media over the pagan ones.
