if your familiar with baseball its basically a crow hop. They are timing their bodies and gaining momentum to throw the ball.

Wide outs, also run a "Hitch" or "Hitch and go." A receiver will sell that he is going to run a deeper route and immediately turn in after a 5 - 6 yard dash for the "Hitch" or after the turn in the receiver fakes with the turn in and continues all the way around and either continues with a fly, deep post, or depending on what slot you're running, a deep slant. Man, I loved playing this game so much!

So I see a lot of people saying this is also known as a crow hop. I’m from the south and that’s the terminology we use when someone jump steps like in the video. Never really heard anyone else use it. So is it a baseball term (cause I don’t watch it but I know out fielders do it a lot) or yall from the south as well lol. It’s always weird when you hear someone else use terminology that you think only people from your area uses or people use different terms that you’re not accustomed to. Like we say “taint” and the first time I heard “gooch” I was like wtf is that???? lol

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to hitch much in high school because the edge rusher was normally in my grille within 2 sec until junior year

Do you think hitching is good to do on every drop or should some drops be thrown off the planting back foot. My opinion is timing for some routes should negate the hitch from the drop but some kids are hitching on every drop.

U go back to give you time and space, then you go forward to give momentum for the throw. All that is labeled "hitch"

What position did you play when you were younger

I’ve never heard of that being called a hitch. Ive heard of a 6 to 10 yard hitch route. We called that a side step at my school. You learn something new everyday.❤

i always assumed you used the hitch sometimes in rhythm but other times after you claim just to climb vs the rush? am i mistaken? can't a hitch be used in conflict effectively?
