Welcome to The Wisdom of Odin! I’m Jacob Toddson, and I created this channel to explore ancient wisdom and spiritual practices from around the world. My journey began with Norse Paganism, and now I travel globally, uncovering knowledge on historical religions, shamanism, plant medicines, and various spiritual paths. Together, we explore how these ancient teachings can inspire and guide us toward a more balanced and meaningful future.

On this channel, I aim to foster unity and understanding across spiritual traditions, beyond boundaries of race, sexuality, gender, or politics. You’ll find an inclusive, open-minded space free from divisive content, drama, and bias. Join me as we discover and share the timeless wisdom that can heal and uplift us all.

Jacob you've always made such quality content but lately I feel like you're at a new level, not only is the quality there you've taken a leap as a presenter and video maker. On top of that you've found yourself as an author which I think is a great path for you! I can't wait to read it. Congratulations, and thank you for everything you make for us.

I love your take on focusing on what we share in this spiritual time vs “ownership”

Hi Jacob! As an ex-Christian, semi-pagan, and flirting strongly with atheism, I like your take on the Humanistic roots of the season! I'm sure if we were able to look back into our prehistoric, neo-stone age and stone age ancestors we would find the season being marked in similar ways! Indeed the whole idea of the pagan year would be just as familiar to those hunter gatherers! Take care and I wish you all the best as the Year slowly ends!

We really need to be more open about the fact that a lot of modern customs are a weird mix of both pagan and christian. Just look at so many irish and german traditions. A lot of them are infused with pagan and christian aspects. And that's what I love so much about it.What religion, no matter paganism or christianity, is basically all about is making sense of humanity and existing in this world. And that's what I find so beautiful about it.

A heartfelt thank you Jacob! Halloween as a Christo-Pagan and ultimately human festival, I love it. And yes, less plastic 🙏🏻💚

I always handcraft things for Halloween - usually several small DIY decor items & one big project that is usually sewn or crocheted. My grandmother usually crocheted or knitted an afghan or sweater in fall colors this time of year, & like many of my Halloween traditions, I carried this one on from her (she was Irish & Scottish - her mom was from Belfast & her dad was the grandson of Scottish immigrants). Last year, I made a huge blanket in Halloween colors. This year, I made 2 "Lost Souls" shawls.

I love your last point at the end that challenges us to put a stop to mindless consumption. I've never been a fan of plastic decorations so don't bother buying them, and I find it much more interesting to try and make a costume out of things I already own. But I'm also European and Halloween over here, while becoming americanised, is not pushed as much. I can knit some simple decorations and have them around, string up some dried fallen leaves that I've pressed the year before and have a great time like that.
Intentional consumption should be applied to every part of our lives, and making things together builds community and friendship. Well said.

To me, modern Halloween is a secular holiday that can be celebrated by anyone, Christians, pagans, and agnostics/atheists. Vetrnaetr recently passed, which is what true Norse pagans would have celebrated.

Ah, syncretism! The church may have co-opted many pagan festivals, as this supposedly helped people transition from one belief system to another. But so many of the surviving practices associated with these festivals have nothing to do with Christianity. One could come up with a whole degree program based on religious syncretism. Fascinating stuff! :)
