It's only a problem to dishonest people and those who have something to hide.

I do NOT want any company connected to my bank account. I prefer a person to check out. When I am no longer able to purchase with my cash or card, I will just bow out. There are plenty of other stores available.

I only scan and go, only go on a Tuesday and it's much faster, granted I'm not there shopping around for BS. I scan the item and put it in my cart repeat a few more times, then as I'm walking to the front I pay and walk to the exit line they scan and I'm all done. 😊

I don't steal. I also don't want to have to go to self check out because there aren't enough lanes with employees ( and the wait for an employee to scan your items can be ridiculous), then wait again in another line for you to make sure I'm a good little slave and didn't steal, all while paying for a membership. Humans need jobs!

I don't trust AI. Other news article said AI facial recognition pinned a elderly man for something he didn't even do. I see more flaws in this than advancement in society. It seems like self-checkout seems to be causing more problems then just getting cashiers and receipt checks.

Yet more jobs losses to AI. Guess we should start shopping elsewhere. Unless of course there is 40% off discount for doing the job of an employee.
I already avoid the self checks at stores and only go to a cashier. Unless major discounts are offered, I'm not doing their work for them.
I've walked out of a Walmart leaving $250 worth of groceries (including frozen meats) and stuff in the cart because there were no cashiers opened. The manager asked why we were leaving and I told here because they had no cashiers open. She offered to open one or scan the items for us at self check. I told her it was too late and that the store should hire cashiers and to have fun restocking our cart. I've spoken with many others that did the same at that store. Guess what, they hired cashiers.

Love self checkout. Scanned my items as I put them in the cart. Paid from the app and bypassed the checkout lanes all together. Passed through the exit scanner and all was good by the time I got to the door. They didn't check my receipt like they usually do. Sooo much faster and easier. No this wasn't Sam's trying to make it faster or easier, it was a way to capture those inventory losses.

Now, 11 months later, it's clear this tech isn't working quite as well as promised but I applaud Sam's Club for their leadership in innovation. Costco, by contrast, is in the dark ages and seems content to stay there.

It doesn't work. I do instacart and this seems likes it's gonna be a pain in the ass.

Yesterday I did an instacart order, and my mom got a pack of ice tea. Normally this isn't a issue they just scan the instacart receipt and then scan mom's receipt... But now the door lady accused me of stealing, and when I explained that the tea was on a different receipt she seemed lost and confused

So what's going to happen when I have two instacart orders at the same time gonna accuse me of stealing every time?
