This video was made almost exactly a year ago today and we are still paying the same for our 2nd child. However, our 3rd child is completely free (but we pay a bit for for on-site food and diapers).

as a German I'm like whaaaat so much (I'm a huge advocate for mandatory and free Kindergarten to enable children of all backgrounds into developing social and language skills at an early age), but then I read how much it costs in the USA and now I'm like, ok, fine, I'll be sitting here in my quiet corner😅

And this differs from Bundesland to Bundesland. In Hessen Kindergarten is completely free until the kids are going to school.
And I am paying about 250 € for Hort (after school daycare) per month, meals included.

In Rhineland Palatinate (West middle Germany) from 2 years on it is completely free. My son could go from 7:00-17:00 for 0€. If I came early he said "oh why are you so early, I wanted to play with my friends". 😊

Nobody is trying to fix the root problems we have in this country. Everyone is trying to make enough money so that the problems don't apply to them anymore

That's about what we're paying too in Munich but to be fair there are also pricier daycare centers. A friend of mine pays like 800 or 900€ a month in a private daycare.
