Slope stability is an essential topic in Geotechnical Engineering. Slopes are many times part of long roads and railways. This video presents two principles connected to slope stability analysis, effective stress and Morh-Coulomb failure theory.
Today, the analysis can be done using sophisticated computational approaches using powerful software. However, the intuitive understanding of the problem using this classic theory is vital to use and judge the result of the most powerful tools available these days.

I want to ask a question.I have calculated Fs from Michalowski’s (2002) 1.875 and I have calculated Fs=2.047 from slope stability program. What is the reason of this difference?
