Wordpress was never supposed to be developer-friendly. If the project has to be modified by a programmer in the future, then an MVC framework should be used instead.

He is talking about PHP5.4. PHP7 is a completely redesigned language they both not the same at all. PHP5 was a disorganized mess, aka spaghetti code,
while PHP7.4 is so organized and has performance that match Node.js and it will double the performance once PHP8 is out for a few years.

This is a wordpress problem not a php problem ... wordpress has one of the worst architectures Ive ever seen.

Hey Stef, whats your thought on Typescript? There are many frameworks right now that makes Typescript a first class citizen. Nest and Adonis Framework for example.

I learn c# too, now I Want to use PHP as a web access to my desktop application via MYSQL DB.
But PHP is so messy, specially doing the variables. Its not as strict as C# and everything just works.
And When you come to the point of maintining it its so pain in the ass. I mean is it suppose to be like this?
Also MVC is really vague for me its easy to understand but doing the coding and organizing it to php is still so confusing, and I don't want to jump to php framework like laravel or codeigniter just yet without figuring php flat out.
Someone told me php is OOP too like c# so it should be easier but I don't know why it just starts everywhere very messy and no organization at all, I will try to still stick to it though maybe One day I will figure it out.
