Emotiva BasX A-150 power amplifier review

This is a review of the Emotiva basX A-150 stereo power amplifier, comparing it to the other BasX power amp products and similar amplifiers. Testing and comparing the amp to the A 300 from Emotiva also pairing with Marantz processor and Parasound products. SVS speakers used through out and KEF also Klipsch and NHT speakers. This amplifier was tested in a home theater Dolby atmos and DTS X configuration as well as a 2 channel stereo listening setup. It provides 75 watts RMS both channels driven rated at 20 hz to 20 kHz with THD of less than .01% and ultimately was used to power a pair of SVS prime elevation height speakers in an 11.2 channel or 7.2.4 object based surround sound setup.

75 watts power amplifier is much different than 75 watts in a reciever, you have to drive it much harder before it runs out of gas. I have a Carver av705x 5 channel amplifier 125 watts a channel and it's very rare for me to get it to clip. And it will kick the crap out of any reciever that's rated at even 160 watts. Mine is all channels driven and 180 watts into 4 ohms . Good review, good information. Emotiva makes a great product.

Terrific review! Just reinforces the fact that Emotiva makes quality products for the money. Can't wait until I order the Emotiva XPA-11 to pair with my Marantz AV8802A and see how it will sound/perform for movies.

I bought this gem aka BasX A-150 new at only 250 euro.. the vers. 300W was over 550 euro...a dac from Topping E30 and a pair. Warfedale diamond 225...sounds very nice in 13 m2

, the A100 is a stereo power amp as well as an headphone amp. It's both. In fact it's the single most powerful headphone amp that you can buy.
As long as you install the jumpers that come with the amp. Its rated at
75 wpc, @ rms 8Ohms

I use the150 to power a couple of porch speakers with my Denon receiver. Works great for what I use it for.

Thanks for the review. So basically even the A-150 is more than enough watts delivered for domestic useage. Just missed out on a great deal on eBay for a used A-300 so thinking for same price to get a new A-150 now

Do you think the motiva A150 is enough to drive a set of kef qa50 upward firing atmos speakers. Can you give me your thoughts about how good they would drive them thanks. I have read that the kef qa50 are harder to drive then some other atmos speakers.

Got a basx a-300 on the way. I need to find a good preamp for it. I want to keep a low budget. What should i get ? Been looking at the Emotiva BasX PT-100. Any good ?

This is a great review. This is exactly what I was looking to add a few speakers and nice clear sound to a small room for a low, not cheap, price. thank you for this. Plus the last thing I need is one more @#$%! Remote!...

Problem for me is that my Yamaha av receiver doesn't have any pre outs, so I'd have to by a new receiver and then buy the power amp?!

Disagree with your comments on the power of the a150.I have used mine with epos towers with a sensitivity of 85 db.no problem with power vs performance
