If they really want to touch up the UI, they should update the Tray, which looks ANCIENT with its shaded menus.

Very consistent in under delivering.
SketchUp needs to add basic cad and 3d features. Xref referencing an external model.
Isolation by selection and not tied to components or groups. And by tags as well.

hiiii, meanwhile happy new year and thanks for the excellent videos you always make, I wanted to ask you if there is a way to bring the program icons back to the 2022 version, or even 2020 which were my favorites, thanks in advance

Justin, how did you get the treeline/mountains into the model? It was where you demonstrated the horizon feature.

For the Layout Tags, I spent a lot of time figuring those out but i don’t feel like they are very easy to use. The individual text boxes in the title block group are separately linked to the scene with a line attached to the text box. The first click where you link it to the scene only links one of the text boxes. You have to go into the group and move the other line yourself. I hope that makes sense to anyone trying to figure it out.

All tools feel less precise! The eraser is the worst one! And had to take some tools out of the toolbar because o f how large they are

Thank you Justin
I began to see that Sketchup's updates to icons take it a lot away from before and seem like they are more difficult (Sketchup is for everyone and Sketchup is easy). But now it has started to go to the ranks of adults and it deserves it and in continuous progress and development with the addition of basic tools that were external extensions and it was as if the price of the program It will become more expensive than before because of these additions, and it is worth it.
Thank you very much

Taking some getting used to the new icons more than anything else. Been trialling the new location system and its great. I think they really need to incorporate some of the third party tools as standards. Soap and Bubble, Stairs/Fences, Doors/Windows (Chuck Vali stuff). Some AI tools for creating more accurate terrain from satellite imagery - Banks/Cliffs, Cuts you know what I’m talking about. Fix tha damn problems that have plagued sketchup for ages - the active untitled group And the inability to see other textures when editing a group

Thanks Justin. I'm going to be the cranky one. This just seems to be poking around the edges with no serious investment from Trimble. Improved DWG output layered, improved section fills, improved layout speed and/or improved drawing tools, nope. Just new icons to match a free version (and piss off the veteran users) and a few easy tweaks. The sum total of a year of SU work at Trimble. Sorry for being negative

Hi Justin, have they managed to work on the bug where SketchUp will crash when you select a new scene after exporting an image? Thanks in advance

The segment Lasso still has to be able to single-click or shift-click select objects or geometry. If nothing is selected and you click in the middle of nowhere, clearly you are trying to start a segmented selection. If something is selected and you click on another object, or even empty space, you may be meaning to changed what is selected. If you click on something that is already selected, then again you probably are trying to start a new segmented selection. So, it's working as intended, as a way to give you what you probably had in mind.

Piping / tubing has always been a painful chore even with plugins. Putting a 90 or 180 degree turn on tubing as been hit and miss. Hopefully this new snapping function will help. I am rendering neon signs is what I am doing being a designer and maker of them.

Always used small icons on the toolbars and the new version icons are way too small. Even the bifocals don't help... Had to change to the large icons. Do NOT like the cursor size for some of the tools - too big. Seems harder to get them to lock on to points in the drawing. Do like the snap edit feature. Was very happy they resolved the display issue that many folks had that blacked out some of the Trays - that was very frustrating. Appreciate your reviews of SU!

This is the first year I've not bothered updating Sketchup, too much hassle for too little (if any) gain. I and thousands of others just want our plugins and icons to stay exactly as they are in terms of functionality and icon location because our workflow relies on a muscle memory of sorts, we can whiz through jobs faster knowing everything is where we want it to be - I can't believe this issue has never been addressed by the SU team.

Love the Snaps, will be very useful. I also have been using the Flip tool more than I anticipated so the custom plane is welcome too, though Curic Mirror is still superior in many ways (especially with the two new features he introduced last week—"mid between two points" and "edge midpoint"). LayOut improvements are nice as well, I guess, but its performance problems run much deeper than rendering modes, it probably needs a total rewrite of its engine, so... eh. All in all, good update though.

Hi Justin,
I have been trying to figure out a way to revert back to the older cursor icons which I prefer to the new ones with no luck. I found some image files here (C:\Program Files\SketchUp\SketchUp 2023\Images) for the icons and tried to replace them with the ones from Sketchup 2022, but it didn't do anything. Wondering if you have looked into this at all? Thanks for the videos, always a great help
