FRONTIERS AWAIT

The crew of Expedition 41, Kerman, Kerman and Kerman, just undocked from the JKEV interplanetary vessel on their way to the surface. It's their 3rd trip to the Jool system, and Laythe is starting to feel like home for them. Being so close to the end of their journey, the whole trip gets challenged by a storm near the landing spot.
They need to assess the risk and make a decision.

3D animation created over three years, on and off, using Blender 3 and 4 and rendered with both EEVEE and Cycles render engines.
Postprocessing done with Nuke and editing done with Adobe Premiere.

Thank you all for your patience.
I know the wait has been longer than expected, but here it is. After moving to another continent and getting a job in the industry, it's been tough to find the hours to work on the project.
Thanks to those who kept reminding me and asking about the status of the animation, I've been reminded quite often of the short film and gained strength to do the final tweaks to deliver a finished movie.
I hope that, once you see the final result, you understand why it took so long to complete.
Until next time!
Juan Ignacio.

If a cinema movie about Kerbals is made, I will keep watch in front of the cinema door overnight.

This is nothing short of a work of art
Thank you.

This animation makes me realise that this could actually be an alien race that lives breaths and crashes rockets into a big green vegetable in the middle of space. Smarter than us.

The moment at 3:31 is so unbelievably good. I know it’s the tiniest detail, but I absolutely adore how it humanizes these little green people, something it’s so incredibly easy to overlook most of the time
This video is nothing short of a work of art, the talent for filmmaking is clear

Note that this is the same crew from "Check your Staging" which means that the blunderbirds canonically exist and those two are very forgiving

I love ksp movies a lot more than other space movies, because its a somewhat realistic simulation, while most space movies have completely unrealistic physics and science

4:03 What a great moment that would be, to set foot on another world, take off your helmet, and be able to breathe the air. Great vid.

I love how you jettison the heat shield, but two shots later it splashes down still attached anyway.
A nitpicky blooper in an otherwise excellent short.

Wow. Simply wow. This looks so extremely good. True nice attention to detail like the little debris at 2:00 after separation and the absolutely magnificent sight of the Laythe base, not to mention Laythe itself!
