eDrum nerd alert! One kit – nearly unlimited kits & sounds using 2 modules!!
In this video I cover WHY I choose and HOW to use 2 Drum modules.
Headphones HIGHLY recommended.

Intro and tips are the first 9 minutes.
Playing examples begin at the 8:46 mark

I’m currently using a Roland TD50X module as my base module, augmented with a Roland TM6 Pro. Context: I’ve owned & played Vdrums since 1997, and I’ve owned every flagship module and update Roland has made since ’97 along with a few mid-tier Roland modules and modules from Yamaha, 2Box, and Efnote. But, probably like you, I can NEVER have enough sounds! My motto: SOUNDS INSPIRE CREATIVITY!!
With that, many years ago I began using 2 modules on my kit for sound expansion & possibilities. I thought it might be helpful for me to do a proper video on my own personal HOW & WHY.

Between sound editing, adding sound packs, cutting & pasting inside my modules, I have a ton of sounds at my fingertips, and when I want ‘real’ sounds, I use Superior Drummer 3 and EZ Drummer 3. But for this video, I’m solely focused on maxing out my sound options using 2 modules.

Try it for yourself --- have fun exploring! I hope this video helps you in your eDrumming journey!!

Take note: some sounds may be clipping as I recorded this a bit hot and didn’t use my DAW for any post edits. This is the ‘raw’ sound captured straight from my mixer with no additional sound editing.

Hit me up with any questions or comments, and thanks for watching!

Kit sounds are a blend of a Roland TD50X and a TM6 Pro. My TD50X includes sound packs from Roland, Vexpression, Drum-Tec, and Edrum Workshop, all with my own editing.
Vater Maple sticks, DW 5000 Hat & kick pedals.
Audio: Audio Technica Headphones, all modules & multi-pads are routed into a Zoom L-12 mixer and then into a Zoom Q2n4K.

Hi Dennis, FYI, there is an update available for the digital ride and digital HiHat at Roland.

I first got the TD17KVX, and I just wasn't satisfied with the snare especially, so I slowly got the TD27 and all 3 digital pieces.
Question: Why WOULDN'T you have the digital snare set up on the TD50 ?
Kinda, loses its value so to speak...right ?
I have been trying to get a better rim shot sound, and I just got some good advice from Justin at 65 Drums, so I can't wait to try his ideas out, but.... you just turned all the features in your snare to basically the one that came with the TD-17, right ???
Are they even as good as the TD17 ?
I run the TD27 for the main set, and use the TD-17 for a bunch of extra cymbals.
Can you explain why you set up your set like that ?
Not sure if I understand the snare setup...
Is it still running into the TD50, and you also have that trigger on it for even extra sounds ?
Thanks, have a great day !!!
:-)
