I’m sort of confused by this video. An x-ray, I assume, is not used to measure the length of the spur, as this video states would be the only reliable way for a hunter to age a harvested tom. I’m pretty sure I’ve read that spur length as an indicator of age IS NOT a reliable determinant of age, as indicated by banding data. If spur length were a reliable age determinant, banding jakes with a known age and spur length should help determine how to age toms based off of spur length-but I’m sure I have heard or read that the banding data shows great variation in spur length within the same ages of known aged toms. I’d have to say that the video would be better off to say we can not reliably use spur length to determine age, based off of banding data?
