Let's see what we can do with a Panasonic Lumix GM5, a Laowa 50mm 2x Ultra Macro Lens, a Fuji EF-X20 mini flash and a Pringles diffuser!

I have the pentax q which is an even smaller ILC but there is no dedicated macro lens so the options are extenders, close-up addon lens are adapter. It has a built-in flash and a hot-shoe.

That flash is pretty cool. My current rig is an Olympus em10 mkII with the Meike flash you made a video about a while back and the Laowa 50mm. Need to make a Pringle’s diffuser next.

Its crazy how much i have learned from your videos in the last month since i started watching. I was using the build in flashes on both my Canon and Sony until recently. Which wasnt optimal ofc. So i figured out i need to follow your advice and get a nice flash. But i couldnt find a reasonably priced one in my area and i am still trying to keep my equipment purchases moderate for now and hate buying online if i dont habe to. Thats when destiny hit and i was checking old shelf dusters at work to put em on sale. I was able to grab a Hähnel Modus 360 RT for 30 bucks instead of the original listing price of 180 thanks to my boss giving me a crazy discount to get rid off it. An absolute steal. Its a nikon shoe but still works wonders after manually setting it up and fits perfectly on both my cameras. The difference in quality is amazing. Wouldnt have checked for that piece specifically if it werent for your helpful videos. So u somehow send me in the right direction to find that treasure. Keep up the good work and great content mate. The lack of an articulating display is a big limitation, especially at my age. I have a grip on my GM5 that helps with handling. It was made of aluminum by a machinist, but you can craft one using thermal set clay and attach with double-stick tape.

The GM1's pop-up flash can optically trigger a big flash like the Yongnuo 560 even at very low power, so you can get the benefit of lightweight one-handing your camera while holding the off-camera flash to get better control of light angle, and fast recycle times for freehand focus stacking.

I find that setup better to use than an on-camera flash.

I did loads of macro with nikon 1's that way, and even with my fuji xt3 i pop the included baby flash in the hotshoe to use it as a trigger (i only have nikon TTL flashes, but one day i'll buy a proper fuji radio trigger setup).

Wish I can show you the picture, I have an Olympus EP5, come with a tiny flash light, it can be plugged into the hot shoe, but the portable viewfinder has to be taken out, without the viewfinder I found it too difficult to manually focus in bright daytime. But the tiny flash is very useful for macro, the result is cool, about the same size as the pop up flash light of the Lumix

Very nice setup. I truly find it amazing that you are able to get workable images with a shutter speed of 1/50. How are you doing it? I personally am unable to get a non smeary image below 1/200

I have notice that focus peaking on lumix doesn't as well with manual lenses on close up shallow depth of field scenarios compared to native lenses, even at high I get very little peaking on areas that are clearly focus on the screen when using some old manual lenses.
