Drop Test: iPhone 5s

This week we put the iPhone 5s to the test and it didn't end up so hot for the new Apple smart phone. We rarely have phones fail on the first drop, but that is exactly what happened this time through. Here is to hoping Apple increases the durability of their next phone!

That's so weird I've dropped my iphone5s so many times and badly too and it hasn't cracked
(most of the time did not have a case on it)

We actually have quite a few phones and tablets which failed to react after being dropped. Nexus 4 was a good example of this.

We are not throwing it at all. It is laying flat on top of the box. When we remove the box, the iphone free floats downward towards the ground. It just helps increase the accuracy of the drops is all.

Unfortunately not this time. Our costs a pretty much out the roof. Most of these episodes have cost us between $250 and $1000 to produce per episode in the past. We are gonna have less destructions, but hopefully a lot more drop tests going into the future. Don't worry though, destructions will still happen from time to time when they make sense.

The reason it cracked is because he slammed it against the ground with a box.

It always amuses me when people are shocked that a shattered iPhone still works. That they're like, "woah! it still turns on and works perfectly even though it's broken!" Of course it still works... only the glass outside broke... the digitizer inside is still perfectly intact.

the only reason the phone got shattered so badly is because u basically slammed the phone so hard on the ground. Cause on other drop test of the 5s the phone doesnt shatter like that real quickly

I dropped my iPhone 5s off a ledge 10 feet high and it hit the edge of a concrete pier and fell into 6 feet of water and it survived... You must not have dropped it right to break the back.
