Not a big deal but the young Carlos does need to learn class. Rafa is a great role model and hopefully carlos is paying attention.

In doubles is more frequent that happens because the proximity to the net by one of the players.

Part of the game. You always have to be ready to be hit if your at the net.

I remember this point. Carlos and Nadal both apologized and that’s true sportsmanship!

It happens all the time, and players usually apologise. But I don't think there's any need to get angry - the same thing could have happened to the Argentinians

Is just part of a game and even more in world competition. So there is no need to be angry at all. If the person even can be angry then is better dont play competition at all.

Nothing really happend. Just be ready at the net.

I don’t get it why players get angry or feel like that they have to apologize for ball hit the net, or ball hit toward them while they’re at the net. Get over it and play another point. You’re at the net, expect to be hit

I never understood why players need to apologize when this happens and I think it should be optional…..why apologize it’s not like you plan these shots.

I was playing mixed doubles in Saturday afternoon district competition one time with a lady who was aggressive around the net. I struck a heavy forehand from the back of the court to the opposing man's backhand and my lady crossed at the net and intercepted. She volleyed the ball hard, straight into the opposing lady's throat. She fell to the ground unable to breath ecause her windpipe had been closed by the impact of the ball on her voice box. We didnt know what to do and she began to turn blue. Luckily, there was a nurse a few courts away and herd the commotion and cmae to her aid, manipulating her throat which allowed the lady to breath again. My partner was dreadfully opologetic. We went on to win the match and were sitting down for afternoon tea afterwards and my partner apologised again, and the lady, whose life was endangered brushed it off and said "don't worry - you didn't mean it" as though it was an everyday thing.

That's Tennis... it's common.

In doubles is normal, there’re lot more shots close to the net and with no time to measure

If you don't like being hit at the net don't play doubles. Tennis players could never play baseball

Yes it does happen and players have to accept that . But out of sportsmanship surely an apology by a raise of the hand is appropriate. Most players raise a hand as a way of an apology. Good of Rafa to apologise for Carlos. Then just carry on.

It happens. Get over it. Had the ball hit the net and not gone over resulting in a point for you you wouldn't have said a word. Hell, if I was accurate enough I would clip the net on every point intentionally and win a point every time. It's a competition. It's not my job to make it easier for you to win. Would a base runner go out of his way to avoid hitting you while running the bases because you are camping out on home plate while he is trying to score? No, he would run your ass over!
