HIDDEN GEM! Reviewing Sushi W's $38 Omakase in NYC

When most people think of omakase, they think of paying exorbitant prices for dinner and a show. There are more affordable omakase joints like Sushi Nakazawa, where a counter seat goes for $180 per person. The limit is Masa's $1,000 omakase. It seems that omakase in NYC is just not an affordable experience and you have to rich and/or willing to splurge to experience it.

But that's where Sushi W comes in. Sushi W breaks the mold by not only offering omakase for below $100, but Sushi W charges just $38 for its lunch omakase for a 12 set meal. Very reasonable price considering you are getting the food prepared for you right before your eyes!

The question though is, is Sushi W actually worth it or is it just cheap sushi and nothing more? All of the best sushi restaurants in NYC and the most famous sushi restaurants in NYC charge a pretty penny. Is it just normal to expect quality to cost more in sushi? Or does Sushi W show that you can deliver high quality sushi without expecting customers to break the bank? We'll find out in this video together!

I worked there over the summer before I went to college. I think it's a great place to start as a 1st omakase experience and gradually explore other places

This is your best video so far. Great job capturing the food prep, then editing it into your post-meal reflections. It's up, up and away from here.

I really like this channel and appreciate UA's insight and comments on the food, greatly! I don't know your background or if you have any professional training, but I like listening to your commentary very much and you often sound like a true, fair and insightful professional reviewer!! I'm staying tuned.

I experienced this $38 Omakase last month and in my opinion it is great for a starter. Someone who enjoy the experience, but at the same time you get what you pay for, cheaper cuts of fish.

Loved this video. I like how you did the video post production. It gave you the chance to give an honest review without infringing on the other patrons. I’m also glad you survived!! It was looking like attack of the birds early in the video. 😂😂😂 Can’t wait for the next video.😊

There's a location in the UES too. It's a very good value for what you pay and you can definitely eat quickly for a quick lunch but it's definitely not the normal/more luxurious omakase experience where the chefs always take the time to tell you what they are serving you. The fish quality is decent but not the best but again, for what you are paying, it's a great value in NY. I think you can definitely find far better salmon nearby (but at a higher price point).

Crazy how this channel is growing. I remember this channel having less than 10k subs when I found it.

The fact you have post it notes for notes is great, that had me laughing. Thanks UA, another great review, and I don't even like sushi, haha.

Holy mackerel, another great UA review. $38 for Omakase is a pretty good deal, with a few hits, and a few misses.

You make squid soft by scoring it. The more you score it, the more softer it gets. One place i went to, they scored the squid like a fish net. And it literally melted in my mouth. They called it squid cream bc it indeed melted like cream.

Word of advice that you could pass on to your subscribers, dress appropriately when dining at upscale establishments, not only will you be treated and served better, but you won’t piss off people when you wear track pants and hoodies.

Salmon does NOT need anything done to it. I can eat at least 25 pieces of salmon sashimi at a sitting. A little soy sauce and wasabi is all it needs to compliment the taste.

I lived 1 block away from this location and attended their soft opening and have been back over 4 times!!! (Also been to their west side location as well)

Love the price point of this omakase spot, there is no tipping as well following traditional Japanese culture!
