The advantage of having photography as a hobby is that I don't have to worry about building a portfolio. I don't worry about having the perfect light. I will go out shooting in crappy light and even take dull photos. As a hobbyist I light the whole process: shooting, developing and then scanning and post process (unfortunately I don't have space for a wet darkroom anymore). When I was younger I had a successful part-time photo business. I did some photojournalism for local papers and magazines. I took photos for lawyers and house owners who needed photos for legal or governmental purposes. I came to just hate doing it. I gave up photography for more than 8 years and never picked up a camera during that period. Then I decided that I needed a creative outlet to go with my IT job (which I love). I never again worried about getting everything perfect. I didn't worry if the light wasn't perfect when I went out. The entire process was cathartic for me. So, I have the advantage of not needing photos for my portfolio but just my piece of mind. As a result, they don't need to be great. I've never tried infrared. I loved your shots (all of them actually). The one with the 3 trees is lovely and you did a great job setting up your composition. Learned a lot!

Welcome to sunlight Steve, a condition we experience regularly in Australia.

I did not think that photo of the three trees would work out as well as it did. You have a better eye than I.

"Not really seeing much" LOL
I would have made probably a hundred images at that time already. Such a beautiful landscape.

Absolutely love the second image and can see it framed and on the wall. Big fan of infrared images and your channel. Keep it up. Cheers....

That second image at 8:13 is glorious.

Thank you Steve, as usual your video's are so "simple": photography, just photography, nothing else than photography. There's a feeling in your video that I cannot find anywhere else in Youtube. (sorry for my bad English)

Forgot to add. "Its not spectacular; its just lovely" I think just lovely is more than enough reason to photograph something. I think in landscape we have gotten the idea that only spectacular is good enough. But a lovely image of old buildings at an abandoned slate mine is sometimes better to hang that a spectacular visage in Iceland or the Faroes! I know I have one of those slate mine photos.

I’ll just echo the sentiment from other folks, here. Lovely images, particularly the three oaks(?) in a line, which is stunning.

Nice walk through. I liked the explanations setting up the shots. And you got a couple of shots. Just being out is great, though, and it must be a good feeling to see that woodland regrowing. Thanks for another video, Steve.

You've inspired me to take some IR400 out the freezer and plan to take my RZ67 into the local woods. Thanks.

The three trees is my favourite, Steve. Love the texture on the tree bark.

I began a roll Kodak color infrared at Yosemite Nat. Park (Mirror Lake) and finished it in Seattle (Space Needle). Results were okay. But B&W the results were more interesting. This was in the 60s and 70s with an Argus 1000.

I’m currently nursing a friend’s Cosina CT1 super. Film was left in the camera and made a mess. She was into photography but not lately and I promised to have a go at fixing it. I have limited tools. She gave me four color print 35mm rolls to process. Keepsakes.

That IR film is calling for a more abstract composition in my opinion.

Listening to the sounds of nature while you filmed was the icing on the cake.😀
