On the morning of October 14, 1977, a few minutes before 9:00, we got in our big old white panel van to drive to the Alameda County Court House, stopping along the way to pick up a yellow rose corsage and boutonniere. My soon-to-be-husband had arranged with a local AM radio station to play this song at precisely 9:00. My sweetheart passed away three and a half years ago, but today all kinds of memories are flowing back. Nice to hear this again. Only had the album on vinyl and all my vinyl have long since vanished.

I watched Leon + Mary perform this live on dual pianos @ SNL in NYC! Leon was woven into my high school experience in Tulsa. He played outdoors @ the local racetrack, as well. He was always kind, funny + gifted.

When I was a kid in school, my older sister had this album and she would play it loudly every morning! I know every word to every song on this album. Absolutely beautiful music. Rest in peace Leon Russell. You will always be remembered.

I had heard Leon Russel but at an Eric Clapton concert in 1974, with Santana as the opening act, at Tucson Convention Center they were playing Leon’s latest album “Wil of the Wisp” over amazing sound system and I was hooked. He was an amazingly gifted musician and singer and I enjoyed his music over the years. I was so glad that Elton John made it his mission to find and bring this giant back onto the stage and ultimately receiving his induction into the Hall of Fame. He is a legend. ❤
