Currently going through my dark night of the soul, and Meg’s music is my soundtrack. I’m 36, have Stage 3 Congestive Heart Failure with about a year left. The love of my life and I ended our relationship, I’m constantly at risk of homelessness. The pain only grows. But thank you Lord for giving us Meg Myers. Her music, especially this song, is literally helping me stay alive. Do. Not. Give. Up.

This girl would be HUGE if she came out in 1994. Still incredible, none the less. She deserves to be heard.

Everything about her from her music to the way she looks is hauntingly beautiful.

My world got brighter the day I discovered Meg Myers, and here I am, a few years later, craving more awesome music from this woman.

I think that she is proving a point about Goths, it's not a dress code, it's a way of life and thinking.

I think what i love most about Meg is how she shows so much 90's influence in her visual and musical styles.

I was drawn to this song so much, when she explained it was about finding beauty in darkness, it clicked why.

I just discovered Meg today. My life is better for it. Oh what I've missed.

The “you don’t think life’s sad” rings in my soul every time it gets to that part..

I do that... stay in hotel room, cry my eyes out, talk to myself to comfort myself, stare at the walls, sleep. Then return to the world outside with the face I usually have. Happy.

All her songs are real.

Just heard this song for the first time today... not sure what took so long, but after living with chronic depression for over 15 years (due to a traumatic experience) Meg Myers hits the feels hard.

Probably the MOST talented female artist to date. I get chill bumps every time I listen to her music. Very calming and intriguing to say the least.
She is a absolutely beautiful artist.

This woman is eclectic, magnetic, and truly gifted in her interpretation of feelings, beat, and lyrics. I love her diverse music.

You're weak
Broken in a motel
You blink
Tears are falling down
Down
Down
And you're free
Free inside your own hell
You speak
Someone let me out
Out
Out
And I can't stop this pain!
It only grow-oh-oh-oo-ohs!
Tell me why I always feel alone!
And I can't fight this feeling
Anymo-oh-oh-oo-oh!
Show me what I'm really living for!
I wanna love, wanna live!
Wanna breathe, wanna give!
Wanna yo-oh-oh-ee-oh!
But it's hard and it's dark
And we're doomed from the start!
Gonna yo-oh-oh-ee-oh!
I wanna love, wanna live!
Wanna breathe, wanna give!
Wanna yo-oh-oh-ee-oh!
But it's hard and it's dark
And I'm falling apart
Gonna yo-oh-oh-ee-oh!
Your dreams
Slowly turn against you
Your feet
Sink into the ground
Ground
Ground
And, you bleed
Naked in a black room
You scream
Someone let me out!
Out!
Out!
An' I can't stop this pain!
It only grow-oh-oh-oo-ohs!
Tell me why I always feel alone!
And I can't fight this feeling
Anymo-oh-oh-oo-oh!
Show me what I'm really living for!
I wanna love, wanna live!
Wanna breathe, wanna give!
Wanna yo-oh-oh-ee-oh!
But it's hard and it's dark
And we're doomed from the start!
Gonna yo-oh-oh-ee-oh!
I wanna love, wanna live!
Wanna breathe, wanna give!
Wanna yo-oh-oh-ee-oh!
But it's hard and it's dark
And I'm falling apart
Gonna yo-oh-oh-ee-oh!
"How come that, uh, most of your songs are sad songs?"
"Well, uh, you know, I don't think they're all that sad"
"Some, I have a few, that are just, that aren't sad, they're like, hopeless" (hopeless, hopeless...)
"A totally hopeless situation, and the rest aren't sad, they're just the way it goes, kinda"
"I mean, you know? You don't think life's sad?" (Life's sad, life's sad...)
"No"
"But, from recognizing the sadness, you can, uh, put it aside and be happy and enjoy the happy side of life"
I wanna love, wanna live!
Wanna breathe, wanna give!
Wanna yo-oh-oh-ee-oh!
But it's hard and it's dark
And we're doomed from the start!
Gonna yo-oh-oh-ee-oh!
I wanna love, wanna live!
Wanna breathe, wanna give!
Wanna yo-oh-oh-ee-oh!
But it's hard and it's dark
And I'm falling apart
Gonna yo-oh-oh-ee-oh!
Ooooo, yo-oh-oh-ee-oh!
Oo-ooo, yo-oh-oh-ee-oh!
Oo-ooo, yo-oh-oh-ee-oh!
Oo-ooo, yo-oh-oh-ee-oh!

If I still wrote music reviews, I'd be writing about Meg Myers every week, I swear. Hands down my favourite current recording artist, and I'm so happy to see a video for one of my favourite MM songs. How do you sound both dark and celebratory at once? She nails it here. Totally works with my motel obsession, too. :)

2 days ago I never heard of Meg Myers. Now I am listening to her stuff almost non-stop and am addicted to this song in particular. How have I never heard of her before now?
