Trump Won - NOW WHAT?! (A Message To Liberals)

My 2024 election reaction. Trump won and I'd like to take a moment to speak to those of us disappointed at the election results. Say something mean in the comments & prove me right. We need an attitude shift on both sides. I believe we can fight for what we believe in without starting a fight. Maybe I'm crazy but I thought we were all adults here.

I've been going around saying this across different left wing communities and I'm glad this video exists because it's more level headed and determined than most of the ones I've seen. Let me say this: We lost, but we're not done.

Jaclyn is right that we need to build a genuine left wing media apparatus for the future. Somebody with the charisma and ability needs to work on that, and grow their audience. The current left wing media bubble just does not hit the same strides. We need to get this ready for not even 2028, but for 2026, we have to win the midterms in order to completely stall Trump and his goons and if we can secure anything resembling a supermajority (unlikely but possible), we could go on an impeachment spree against Trump and Vance and make sure this movement dies.

But let me offer some words to focus on: We have to fight. Take some time to rest and grieve this loss, you have time before Trump gets into office. Take this time to refocus, cool off, and feel your feelings. And then come back ready to fight. This sadness? Hopelessness? Bitterness? Dread? Turn that into anger.

Project 2025 cannot happen and we must fight it tooth and nail at every juncture. Kick, scream, and thrash against them at every single turn. Show them no weakness, give them no quarter, give them nothing.

This is not over. We have only begun to fight. I promise you all the sun will rise on us again and we will win this. It is always darkest before the morning breaks.

"To be curious, rather than be hateful" is SUCH an amazing way to think. Thank you Jaclyn. This is why I follow you.

The problem is... in 2016 many (outside of NY) didn't know who he was... they were romanced by a character they saw on a "reality" TV show and wanted change. This time they knew exactly who he was. If Jan 6 wasn't enough, there were a plethora of other reasons to reject him bot embrace him. Voting him in didn't just give a criminal unchecked power... it prevents any accountability for previous crimes like Jan 6, classified docs, fraud, etc.. They all go away now. It also rewards the insurrectionists with pardons.

No.. Citizens don't owe presidents anything.. Presidents, In America, are servants to the people. This notion that we must respect someone because they got into an office is BS. Respect is earned and Trump has not earn the respect of many people. Trump said clearly what he wants to do..and we know he is a criminal and a sexual predator. We don't need to respect what cannot be respected. we can respect him.. as he respects others. I am not one to be childish about it.. I don't wish he gets HIV.. or whatever.. I only wish he can overcome his hatred and anger and fear..or whatever he is going through that makes him the way he is. That man would have public lynching's if he could get away with it.. I am serious about this. We cannot respect that.

I'm an ally from Australia & aside from women's rights, I'm still not clear on what Harris' policies were & that's a huge problem for her. She came access as someone playing a lead without knowing her lines.

Thank you for this Jaclyn. You’re such a calm, steady voice in all this madness. I think social media and everything else with the internet has made everyone so hateful and disconnected. I wish I could have seen more of the McCain/Obama presidency, but I was only 8 years old. I hope more people see this side of things. You’re a very intelligent, mature person and I will be keeping this in mind. Thank you!

Edit/note: I think politics lost its decency when Trump came into office. He doesn’t seem to have respect for anyone who disagrees with him. Kinda shocking that he’s now gotten office TWICE. Hopefully the checks and balances will help keep his toddler fits in check. We’ll get through this, I just hope the climate can hold on and we get other countries to help lessen climate change.

while Jaclyn is not wrong, there really is no way to talk and understand someone who just plainly hates someone because of something they cannot change. I am not American and I was only 14 when Obama won so I may be talking out of my a** but back then, we looked up to the USA because it felt like it accepted anyone - or at least it did a better job than most other places. Hearing family and friends I have there be discrimated against, it's too close to home because I once wanted to move too.
That said, she's not wrong and for what it's worth, when I see people still care and wnat to try, I genuinely feel less worried for the people I care about Hoping for the best for everyone in the US.
I truly believe it will get better after it gets a whole lot worse.

I liked McCain even if I didn't agree with him. I would've been ok with him as President. Prior to Trump, there were many conservatives that were decent people. But Trump really brought out the ugliness.

There were a lot of Americans that wanted this. Eventually, people need to realize demonizing the other voters doesn’t work and this is an example of what happens.

I can accept the fact that we lost, as heartbreaking as it is, but he needs to earn the respect. He has spent years spewing disrespect and breeding it within his constituency. I am a part of some of those demographics that he has put a target on and im not going to let these people walk all over me. They can have their win, but as soon as they cross that line, all bets are off.

I blame social media for the nastiness in today's politics. It allows for rapidly spreading mis-info that causes the anger and divisiveness. Social media needs to be regulated, algothryims need to be public.

On the bright side, this is Trump's final term, he won't be allowed to run a 3rd time no matter what.

Thank you for your grace and maturity. I got bombarded with hate on Reddit for being hopeful despite the fact I’m not happy with Trump.

I always hear about Trump being a monster and stuff, yet never found an explanation of the things he's done. It's like people are just following what media tells them.

I’m tired of giving grace. I’m tired of choosing kindness and curiosity. If you voted for Trump, I simply think less of you at this point. They knew who he was and still voted for him.
