Great tribute Neil! Over here in the Netherlands David Lynch's passing wasn't even mentioned in the NEWS! He was a legend! One of the most influential directors of the past decades!

Ah man, that was so nicely done, I felt quite moved at the end. Straight Story is one of my favourite movies of all time. Mulholland Drive is one of the best movies of the 21st century. Blue Velvet frequently features in 'greatest of all time' lists. The fact he became an adjective - 'Lynchian' (like saying Pythonesque') shows what a contribution he made not only to film but also as a certain style, feeling or way of looking at things. Unique indeed.

A thoughtful and gentle salute to a singular artist, a serious loss to the cinematic world. I didn't regard Lynch as one of my favorite directors, and I'm not a Lynch completist, but my two favorite Lynch films of those I've seen are 'Mulholland Dr.' and his early short 'The Grandmother', which anticipates in some regards his infamous midnight-movie classic 'Eraserhead'.

Nice tribute Neil. I paid homage to him this morning by watching Blue Velvet for the first time.

one of those few cases where you think it didn't just die a man, it died an universe. He seemed like one of a kind, a true American genius and creator. Alongside Coppola IMO he was the best filmmaker alive. I'll watch again blue Velvet, one of my favorite movies, full of magic, naivety and evil, all things at the same time coexisting in his mind.
