fun fact! this is my first animatic i've ever done for a musical LOL. When I was into Hamilton, I had a few that I started but never finished ^^: but please listen to these concept albums! it's sooooo good TT my drawings don't really do it justice but hearing this song and imagining it my head was fun!

The baby dropping him and Ody dropping to his knees hurt me even harder than the implications in the song

A detail that I'm not sure was intentional but was interesting nonetheless. You see these "small effect" to "big effect" with the comet to meteor, candle to blaze, and ripple to tidal wave, but you don't see any visual representation of Odysseus looking monstrous, he simply still looks like a man, which indicates that he already perceives himself as monstrous because he's going through with this, he crossed that line before even asking himself these questions

I love the epic, dreadful procession of Odysseus through all his metaphors, before looking the child in the eye as it realizes something’s wrong. That hurt.

This is so fucking aesthetically pleasing detail wise, but so hysterically sad at the same time.
It's beautiful with the detail, and marks of realism, but the moment the child reaches for him, I just....
It's so wonderfully done, and so, so emotional. I can't really put it correctly to words.

the panning of the camera, the outline of baby Asty becoming clearer as Ody drops him with that broken expression on his face- thank you for your service

I've just recently become obsessed with Epic and started watching as many animatics as I can get my hands on but man...
This one is my favorite so far. Your mix of both literal and metaphorical visual elements is breathtaking. Even though this isn't the most polished animatic, the composition brings the song to life more than all the colors and shading in the world (not to mention your animation is so smooth, my goodness). From the very beginning, with the change of the tiny shooting star to a larger-than-life meteor, it captures and demands full attention. Another moment I love is when Odysseus pulls aside the curtain to reveal the city (Honestly, there are so many parts that I love, I could go on for so long...). And then, when the baby opens his eyes right before he is dropped- when I say I FELT that. And, of course, the gut wrenching final moments where Odysseus falls to his knees.
Seriously, I could go on for hours. This is incredible.

I love all the composition choices sm… and the way the ripples are coming from his feet as he walks to the window, like the effects of this one choice are going to ripple out… how he drops to his knees right after dropping the baby like he’s falling too… the CURTAIN ANIMATION MY GOD

I think just a Man out of all the other songs of EPIC leaves the most be interpreted for visual animation that's why almost no one else has animated it and I'll say you've done an amazing job exactly how I've interpreted it from its lyrics
