The suspension setup of a mountain bike is key to feeling fast and confident when out riding! Doddy recently met up with Steve from Suspension Doctor out in Spain to see if MTB suspension telemetry can really transform your riding and the feel of your bike. It may not just be for professional mountain bikers. Watch on to find out why!

Doddy, thanks for sharing this. This is a service I wish I could take advantage of. I find suspension to be a little intimidating. I also see a lack of these types of services here in the US. When I called several local bike shops, they all said they send shocks and forks back to manufacturers for service. Here in my state, I can't find any local tuning services.

Ive been thinking of trying to make a telemetry system for around the $20 mark using some fancy electronics. Been kinda wondering if there would be a market for a sub100 dollar telemetry setup

Super interesting topic. Of course it‘s interesting for us mere mortals. A pro can tell which damping is wrong, I can only say „my hands are hurting“. Setting sag alone is complicated enough especially getting off the bike without moving the o-rings.

Love to see tech working, thanks Doddy, cheers

What about using a set of ShockWiz on the front and rear? Yes, they only work with air, so it wouldn’t work on coil, but they work lovely on air.

This looks great. I'd like to do this. I am curious how a setup you come away with will translate between different trail lines e.g. double black, black, blue, jump line etc

Sure sounds like it could make setup faster than the trial and error we used to do.

Remember the time Morty got his mind blown when Rick showed him TRUE LEVEL? I feel the same way about telemetry optimising.

How long before we get the likes of skyhook (Ducati) suspension? e-bikes first as they have the battery, but no doubt coming for normal MTB’s.
The big challenge for suppliers will be rider weight to balance sprung and unsprung weights.

My 14 year old son is just learning to ride and progressing quickly we are struggling with bike setup as he goes faster every weekend but only tool we have to use is the O ring on the fork and shock shaft. He's learning so doesn't know if rebound or compression to fast or to slow let alone high speed/low speed. Like one of the other comments we are light years behind here in the US. Any recommendations?

Been thinking I need to drop sone front psi and add a token maybe... but maybe not....
Since shock was serviced (I think Fin used a lower viscosity oil than std) its made front feel comparatively firmer in the rough... maybe going back to oe spec in rear🤔 as it was perfect before anyway...
Such first world problems!!

My work vehicle has telemetry checking how hard I accelerate, brake, corner, GPS speed check; tech sux.

to me thats the ultimate goal, have hard data to educate how the bike should feel. I wonder if a shock wiz is worth it given it doesn't have as much data as the system you used?

Is shockwiz an accurate tool to tune shocks or it is just a toy?

Fancy coming up to north of scotland to set up my suspension should only cost me about £500 then it will be bang on for the steep stuff then come back when im riding pedally stuff, smoother stuff and after a service is done, when the weathers hot and when its winter? yeah…na its ok 🥴😂
