I live in Ukraine and people in my country were became suspicious of each other since long time ago (80 years of being a part of Soviet Union) but I lost my friends when I had serious problems with my health. They just didn’t want to deal with that. You can say that they were not real friends and blah blah blah but I think you can’t deny the fact that it’s much easier to have old childhood or college friends than to seek the connection out when you’re an adult with a full time job and you have zero energy both after work and after your health problems in general.
