Havent done any of those, but I have fitted a canister type filter incorrectly so that it gushed oil wonderfully well on start up, I have not noticed an existing drain plug washer and ended up fitting two (which leaked) and just to top things off I have tripped over a full oil drain pain creating an Exxon Valdez moment in my garage. Happily these didnt happen on the same day (or year even)

Its well known practice for professional garages to fill engine oil over max in UK so always check your level to avoid engine damage over time

check for leaks after first quart or two added ...
with something (cardboard) under the car to catch what falls ...
--
make sure oil filter gasket from OLD filter does NOT remain (stick) on engine ...
new filter will not likely seal w/ TWO gaskets in place ...

Video says. Turn off engine and check oil level using dipstick. It should say wait 5 mins minimum. Otherwise the level will be way off as it hasn't had time to drain into sump and people will think it's low and fill it up, which then once settled will make it over full.. Potential serious seal damage. Not great to do a video showing it incorrectly. If bothering please at least do it properly.

It's easy to change because it has two hud lifters. Seal tips should be wrong, If you want to play it in your sink. Overfilling spills oil - it's how it should be, don't pour too much. If it is too old you can't know if it's designed behavior.

Maybe I missed it, but you didn't specify whether to check the oil level when cold or at operating temperature. I know this video is "best practice", but in 20+ years of doing my own changes in vehicles from about 12 different manufacturers, I've never had an issue using the same drain plug.

Wheres the, "not putting the drain plug back in before you put the oil in?" Ive yet to do that, but i know someone who has.

A big mistake that many make is to add additives when replacing oil. Theoretically I produce a film that reduces friction but from my experience over time I produce by burning carbon and clogging the lubrication channels.
In conclusion, any kind of additive must be avoided!

Summary:

1. Changing oil no more than 15000km / annual or when towing 7500km /year
2. Using the correct oil unless your engine has been rebuilt to accept thicker oil. On diesel cars with DPF. Only use DPF engine oil approved by manufacturer to avoid DPF damage.
3. Never overtighten the oil drain plug and when its a VW plastic drain plug always buy new one
4. Drain the old oil when cold or hot is a fairytale story these days with such thin oil. Warm or cold will be 0.2L no more.
5. When replacing a steel can filter remember to remove the gasket of the filter when its stuck on the oil housing
6. Always use new oil drain plug gasket
7. Some VW and BMW doesnt have a dipstick. AVOID AT ALL COSTS these engines. If the sensor fails engine is done as you dont know how much oil is in there.
8. Use a funnel
9. anything else I missed?
