Oggi siamo ospiti presso l'azienda agricola Scrocchi di Rottofreno (Piacenza), dove si sta procedendo alla raccolta del pomodoro da industria con due nuovissime semoventi Guaresi Super G 150-48", macchine top di gamma dotate di raccoglitore largo internamente 1,5 metri e spinte da un motore FPT NEF da 238 cv, mentre al traino dei rimorchi troviamo tre trattori John Deere: 8370R, 8R 340 e 7R 310.

It's hard to imagine that amount of tomatoes that you harvest so quickly. Growing up around a farm in the 1950's and 60's we milked cows and grew corn, wheat, oats, hay and a lot of tomatoes. Some of the larger farms had migrant labor hand pick the tomatoes but some of the smaller farmers hired locals to pick for .13 cents per bushel basket. I remember picking in a particularly good field one day and finally broke the 100 bushel basket mark at around 14 years of age. We hoed the weeds in the just planted tomato until the plants were big enough to use the Farmall C to cultivate them. I'm 73 years old now but still use my hoe to weed my flower beds when the ground gets too hard from lack of rain. Enjoyed this video and even though it's not such hard manual labor as years ago, it's still long, hard and dirty work harvesting crops even today.
