Yep he was in combat long enough to know about the enemy so he pretty much had his head on his shoulders

I think Barnes seen it a little sooner but let Taylor take the lead without knowing the bunker was dead ahead just in case they were in the bunker Taylor would have been the 1st to go down

La seule chose que j'aime, dans ce film, c'est quand à la fin les M 113 arrivent sur le champ de bataille. T'es seul mec ? ça a du barder dans le coin 😂

When I got to my duty station and engineer unit I soon found out the slicksleeves (like me) got assigned the B249 machine gun. The hard logic being you don't know shit and so are the most expendable drawing all of the enemy fire being the machine gunner. (Thank goodness I was mechanized. Boot camp was bad enough for the guys assigned the M60 to carry on road marches.) Having read Kregg Jorgensen's 'Acceptable Loss' he stated he liked point as he felt more 'in control' scanning for boot prints, trip wires, and/or signs of enemy activity that he'd learned from being a LRRP and couldn't believe the racket an infantry platoon made crushing through the jungle after the stringent noise discipline of the LRRP's.
Little wonder it was easy for the VC/NVA to spring ambushes. Just when a soldier that survived his year tour would become a really good jungle fighter he'd be replaced by some kid from the Bronx or inner city without a clue, much like Taylor.
