Powerful explosions heard in Ukraine's capital Kyiv

Powerful explosions were heard early on Sunday (June 5) in Ukraine's capital city of Kyiv.

A Reuters witness saw rising smoke in the city after the explosions.

Air raid sirens had gone off earlier across much of Ukraine, including in the Kyiv region.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on the Telegram messaging app "several explosions took place early in Darnytskyi and Dniprovskyi districts of the capital."
