My Mom's answering machine voice isn't an accent change. It's the Helloooo, this is someone who would never get mad or be mean for annnny reason voice.

When good pronunciation whilst using communication equipment is considered a 'class issue'.
Presumably people should still use ear-trumpets instead of hearing aids as well. Contact lenses? snobbish, wear glasses.
