#bsd #freebsd #xfce #tutorial

FreeBSD is a UNIX-like operating system for the i386, amd64, IA-64, arm, MIPS, powerpc, ppc64, PC-98 and UltraSPARC platforms based on U.C. Berkeley's "4.4BSD-Lite" release, with some "4.4BSD-Lite2" enhancements. It is also based indirectly on William Jolitz's port of U.C. Berkeley's "Net/2" to the i386, known as "386BSD", though very little of the 386BSD code remains. FreeBSD is used by companies, Internet Service Providers, researchers, computer professionals, students and home users all over the world in their work, education and recreation. FreeBSD comes with over 20,000 packages (pre-compiled software that is bundled for easy installation), covering a wide range of areas: from server software, databases and web servers, to desktop software, games, web browsers and business software - all free and easy to install.

A couple of things:
- hald is no longer used in FreeBSD. It's been removed from ports months ago.
- No need to load sound and snd_hda. drivers. They're already included in the generic kernel.

I would start look at Linux GNU Linux or any of the BSD'S, because microsoft is making sure all computers that is running windows 11 won't be able to upgrade from 10 needs security chip. So if got fairly new computer it's just become obsolete. So i say start learning everything you can about Linux, GNU Linux and BSD the command line the os I have commented on in my post.

Well, at first glance it looks much simpler than expected, therefore it is very useful to know the new forms before proceeding. Thank you very much

Installation for other languages than English is also required. It is completely missing here. How can I enable Slovak language support?

Have I missed a step here? I followed your video step-by-step, did a reboot and I cannot get XFCE to start. startxfce command not found. xfce does not exist in /etc/rc.d or usr/local/etc/rc.d

Unfortunately just gives a black screen when trying to boot at the end. This is on 13.1 though.
