Law professor Donna Matias defines an entrepreneur as someone able to identify and provide for an unmet need. In short, entrepreneurs are both problem solvers and wealth creators. Extremely successful entrepreneurs, therefore, are not evil. Rather, they are modern day heroes who have managed to effectively fulfill the needs of their consumers.

People don't hate rich businessmen because of their success, they hate them for their abuse of the system. They drive competition down through unnecessary regulations and monopolies. They hate CEOs for taking huge bonuses from their companies that are going bankrupt, money that could have been used to avoid layoffs. Plus most of the time the super rich nowadays aren't entepenuers they are people that play the stock market and have done hardly any manual labor in their entire lives.

I highly agree with this video. There is too much attention given to the "fallacies" of any one person or organization rather than the greater good they actually strive for. I, personally, own my own business. I always strive to meet the needs and expectations of my consumers if not beyond them. I know that I have a social responsibility to the public to be what they want me to be within reason but not everyone will agree with the method or process to meet those expectations and needs. = /

when i see large corporations, my admiration of their success is coupled with suspicion of how they got there. i think its naive to assume that all corporations success is independent state intervention, they are not necessarily good entrepreneurs, but instead good lobbyists

Half the opposition to free enterprise would go away if everyone took the time to actually make that distinction.

@fishslappr That's because they're good businessman. It is natural for humans to take the path of least resistance. If they can put up some money for lobbyist to increase their profit margin and if that cost is less than actually satisfying their consumer then they will take that path. It's the crony capitalist that give the real capitalist a bad name. You have to distinguish who is making profits even when their product/service is bad, it's because they have lobbied to hinder competition.

Privatized schools would lead to kids in poor communities entering labor jobs rather than getting at least a middle school education and increasing child labor. You're not forced to pay taxes at gunpoint, they are your payment for living in this country and approved through democracy. If you don't want to pay any taxes go find an undeveloped nation and live off the land there. It's one thing to argue that the government is spending irresponsibly it's another to claim they are stealing from you.

Or that you need a job and this is the one in your field... The government isn't all bad, liberalism does not mean anarchy and you definitely shouldn't stereotype your hatred of some government programs onto all government workers regardless of what they actually do.

I don't understand how you could blame someone for doing their job. Do you blame a doctor for taking the bullet out of a murderer? No because that is their duty regardless of how bad the person is. If you don't want to pay any taxes then leave. Clearly you've found them not that terrible because you're still in the country. The Articles of the Confederation failed Because the government had no ability to tax. That led to the creation of our Constitution.
