"(I Just) Died in Your Arms" is the debut single by the English pop rock band Cutting Crew, released in July 1986 as a single from their debut studio album, Broadcast. It was the band's biggest hit, peaking at number one in the United States, Canada, Norway, and Finland, and reaching the top five in Germany, Ireland, the UK, South Africa, Sweden, and Switzerland.

Yet another 1986 gem.... what can you say....
I don't call 1986 my 80's "magic year" for nothing...
I've watched Nick talking about both the writing of it and how that synth intro sound was made, great stuff...
I absolute both the Broadcast and The Scattering albums

lol on the words !! It's kind of similar to the Steely Dan song "Showbiz Kids, " where they're saying: Lost Wages, but everybody hears "Las Vegas, " similar but different. Thanks for this. I went straight to work after college, so missed a lot of late 70's, and 80's songs!๐Ÿ˜˜โœŒ

I then thought oh, I had better have a look and see if the official channel has it in the expected 480p shit version. No, shock horror, they remastered it to HD.
When official channels have gone to the bother of making things better than what they were, I usually don't bother posting mine up. There was a big announcement in late 2020 that the official channel was releasing a new version (I presume before that it was 480p) and it would be HD (1920 x 1080). Woo Hoo ! 213 million people have watched it, so why should I bother to compete particularly against VEVO who no doubt have an inhouse team of professional video people with squillion dollar software.

To the was definitely a song of the times and boy, you could not ask for a better debut single. It was basically top 10 worldwide, number one in some places but oddly, it only went to 50 in New Zealand. It went to #8 in Australia. This is very strange, our Kiwi cousins were usually almost as good as us at picking a hit. It was written by lead singer Nick Van Eede, who with his dazzling good looks no doubt had more crumpet than a Tip Top factory. Van Eede came up with the title and concept for "(I Just) Died in Your Arms" after making love with his then girlfriend. "I actually remember saying that, " he admitted, and promptly jotted a note on a pad he always kept close at hand. Despite being known as a one hit wonder, Van Eede obviously had talent. A bit of cut and pasting to follow, but basically while working as a hospital orderly in the late 1970s, Van Eede was discovered playing by ex-member of the Animals, Chas Chandler, who sent him on a tour of Poland as support for Slade. Van Eede was only 18 when sent on the road. He recalls, "I went with a kazoo and an acoustic guitar and opened for Slade in amphitheatres in front of 18, 000 people. I went down as a storm and had the loudest kazoo in Europe, because Slade took their own PA on the road!" His career continued with tours supporting headliners like David Essex, Hot Chocolate and Alan Price.

He released a handful of solo songs that didn't chart and then formed Cutting Crew. After Cutting Crew finished up, he went on to write and produce for other artists, including producing the original demo of Cher's hit "Believe". In 1996, he unsuccessfully auditioned for the job as the new lead singer of Genesis following Phil Collins's departure.

Thank for this! Went to a lot of parties the year this came out, and danced to it lots. They did a terrific version of this song on Rockpalast in 2007, it's here on YouTube, but in serious need of remastering.
