Orwashers has been a New York institution since 1916. Today, there are two brick-and-mortar locations plus a giant production facility in the Bronx that supplies restaurants and markets throughout the area.

We visited the Upper West Side location to learn how to make legendary bread alongside the owner. Then we visited the massive production facility for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour.

Nice to see a busy bakery and enthusiastic staff. Reminds me of my old bakery back in the day. It's a much smaller operation now and we sell less bread. It's very hard for us to compete with big brands and cheap supermarket bread these days. So many of my friends have had to close up over the years, I'm one of the last few left. Please support your local bakeries in future!

Why are you competing in a contest to do something the bakery doesn't do daily. _Show us how they make their bread._ How clueless can you be?! I'm sure they don't have a machine to stretch the dough for all of their specialties. Show us! That spread was impressive. Show us more of the operation, the history, the people, the bread an how it's made. No irrelevant contests and a host who reminds us that she doesn't bake or cook and thus has no idea what to ask about, as if it wasn't clear enough. Next time send someone with some baking experience who's really interested in the bakery and it's bread. In fact, I don't care if the person you send gets any screen time at all. I don't care what some peppy stranger I've never seen before watches on Netflix. The only people I really want to hear are the bakers. More time to hear these masters explain how the bakery works would be very welcome. Unfortunately, I learned very little from this video and am disappointed. Orwashers deserves better.
