The Song 'Te Rina' Was Composed by Tommy Taurima
 and was written to the tune "Marina, Aqua Marina",

The other lyrics Nau Te Rina Was an acknoledgement to the song Te Rina And was composed by Ben Ratu Of Papakura our whanau thought itll be right to pass our tupuna Extension to tommy Taurimas Wonderful song written to his Grand Daughter Te rina Pomare. And was Taught to urban Legacy From The Children Of Ben and Janie Ratu. Bijay And Gayle Ratu back in 2010. It Was a whanau song sung in our family for many years.

The other part of the song was written by Tommy Taurima I think which was dedicated to his daughter named Terina. Please dont quote me on that as I am not really sure about that but that is what I have been told. The above lyrics where written written by a kaumatua in Papakura.

so this waiata was written for a woman Terina by one of the most famous composers in Maoridom Papa Tommy Taurima who also wrote Rongomaiwahine, Te Aniwaniwa, He wrote this waiata because Terina mum was brought up by Papa Tommy Mum and her (Papa Tommy Mum) name is Terina and so yea. Anyway next time i see him il make sure that he sees this i give my hat of to you two who aren't Maori but are giving it a go.
