She's one of those sacrificial characters so the main character can actually beat the main villain

Star and stripes battle showed a couple of things. It explained the hesitance of other countries sending aid to Japan. Seeing star lose caused other countries to stop hero's who were already set to go and help, this is due to the risk of losing their heavy hitters, seeing their powers fall into AFOs hands and the risk that if AFO won they would be on bad terms should they need to negotiate.

It also showed that while all might was out of the fight be wasn't a bystander. He was still the symbol of defiance and star embodied that in her final act. The age of the symbol of peace is over. One person cannot bear the weight of the world. As shown by all mights final years as the symbol being largely deception. He was in desperate need of help, but wouldn't let it show outside if a handful of people due to fear of the symbol being lost and panic ensuing.

Yeah, while I don’t agree with damn near every single hundred bajillion critiques of My Hero out there nowadays, Horikoshi really should’ve cooked more with this character or just not do it at all. She was in n out quick, and it felt like what I feel with the current Jujutsu cast that they’re wasted before any real potential is tapped into, and to me, that’s worse than the criticism of not killing off characters enough for the sake of tension.

Hori failed her. One of the coolest characters and amazing quirk only for him to kill her off in a flash. I deadass dropped the series for 2 years after that

It was pretty badass, watching it without reading the manga, I was hyped for star and stripe, got to tell people about her and how cool her design looked, then two episodes into season 3 she is gone, that’s pretty impactful to me as a viewer.

She's one of my favorite characters, her fight with Shigaraki was amazing and made me rlly like her, so sad Hori basically wasted her whole character

I see a lot of people talking about how she nerfed shiggy but is that truly the case. It's said in story so yes but it really didn’t do anything because none of the quirks we know he has gets destroyed so it's really just empty words.

It sucks that such a cool and interesting character died immediately after getting introduced. What’s crazy is that they actually had a perfect way to introduce and build her up before hand: Vigilantes.

Koichi is literally in America being a hero and we could’ve gotten more on what he’s doing while also introducing and fleshing out Stars and Stripes more. I get that Vigilantes is kinda it’s own thing, but it’s also where we not only got Aizawa’s backstory, it’s also where the entire Kurogiri or whatever his name is stuff comes from too.

1) there is a whole other series from horkoshi on American heroes called “vigilantes”, it’s finished and the prequel to MHA
2) Star was used as a device to nerf Shiggy while simultaneously give a realistic reason Japan was abandoned by the rest of the world
3) She also showed during her fight and later through her team, that a single person can actually change the course of the world through helping, inspiring and connecting, as her team decides to help Deku despite the US orders, to honour star. And despite the fact that the US is considering to work with AFO as a quick solution to bring back socioeconomic stability, which is realistic as well. She herself was another kid saved in more ways than one by Allmight.
4) She is also one of the three characters that manages to leave an impression on AFO highlighting his absurd arrogance, but at the same time how OP he is.
5) Her fight was visually stunning and it manages to get you attached in a few chapters.
So she doesn’t suck, in my opinion.

She still gave us a good fight, though. They gave Shigaraki a very good outfit for the fight, and her quirk was very strong, if not the strongest without counting All for One and One for All. He may have lost the reflect quirk during the fight, but it was insignificant since that was the one and only time he used it. The problem is that they showed her for only a couple of chapters without any real significance.

I love this series but I’m sad that they killed her off so quick. Tbh, I have a slight understanding why Horikoshi did that due to her recent role in the manga ( I won’t say what ofc). But anime fans aren’t going to take this well and it going to cause a lot of hate material.
