The Lydian Empire was the first culture to use coins as commerce and understood that coins were an easier way to buy and sell items.
At first the coins from Lydian were very crude and were made from a mixture of gold and silver called electrum, but later developed the very first pure gold and silver coins that were minted by King Alyattes around 610-600 BC.

Once King Croesus became the leader of the Lydian Empire coins were well accepted throughout the Lydian empire and even after the Lydian Empire was conquered by the Persians the concept of coinage and money became accepted and spread throughout the ancient world.
