After seeing how turns like this could end up with the gymnast hitting their head on the beam if they slip, this definitely deserves a higher rating.

i don’t understand why there is an e cap on dance elements. i understand that not many skills would need to be rated higher than e but i don’t see why the cap exists

When this turn is really under control it is beautiful to see.

Definitely deserves a higher rating!! Incredibly difficult turn!! These gymnasts did an awesome job!

Sugihara and Schäfer, two amazing beam skills that nobody will ever try because of how undervalued they are.

this is infinitely more satisfying to watch than a wolf turn

oml they have the fluffy spieth beam!! i had such a love hate relationship with that beam. it does such a good job with shock absorption but it was so easy to slip right off of. haven’t seen those beams anywhere else but my gym before, don’t think they were ever cleared to be used in competition lol

Such a beautiful spin, wish it was rated higher

When the open ended COP started in 2006 elements only went up to G so relative to that, for dance elements to only go up to E wasn't as significant. These days elements can go up to J so the E cap now seems unreasonable. Many of the most difficult spins (like the Sugihara and Wevers) were also invented after 2006 but remained capped at E

That’s why they all choose this terrible wolf turn ..

All gorgeous, elegant elements, mounts, spins etc. are so undervalued, no wonder they are disappearing from routines…
Modern gymnastics is becoming so boring to look at, it is all strenght and tumbling nowdays.

Wow, such a difficult dance element on beam. The gymnasts did it beautifully.

There needs not be a cap on dance elements. They make the routines beautiful. Take them out and beam becomes a narrow tumble trac.

These series of videos has explained so much about why gymnastics has become so boring and repetitive- difficult is the only thing that is valued, not originality or flare. So you get routines that’s are a dime a dozen filled with wolf turns (even well executed they look clumsy and uncomfortable) etc. while dance elements that added flow and interest are relegated to after thoughts. It’s no wonder college gymnastics is gaining so much prominence over the elite competition.

I wish more gymnasts would do this instead of the horrible Wolf turn.

I don't get why the damn fig caps skills in what is supposed to be open ended scoring system. They really are ruining the sport not making it better

Does it make a difference if it is clockwise or counter-clockwise?

I don't do gymnastics and never watched it on tv or anything.. could someone explain what (letter)-rating means for a skill? I'm genuinely confused and curious.
