I think what people are missing here is that if you have to type “woman” or “racialized” in as a prompt, that assumes that white men are the default and everyone else is then othered. It’s an abstract point, but it is something to think about when we examine how we conceptualize these societal roles. It says a lot about how we’ve internalized racist and sexist ideologies.

It’s probably because most description wouldn’t mention someone being a man, but they will mention them being a woman

I find it interesting what these AIs can tell us about stereotypes. I asked Dall-E for "woman" a while ago and all the results were of unhealthily skinny women.

It's funny that the people who complain about "woke snowflakes being offended by everything" are the ones getting so offended by everything. Typing "touch grass" is not a substitute for touching grass yourself.

Now try anything involving sexualization and you will see that the disparity becomes Women are the default, i wonder why this is *sarcasm*

This is actually a really interesting observation. I do wonder how it works on a larger scale or what part of its algorithm causes this? This could be great for better understanding how those programs work.

Midjourney has really distinct backgrounds and colors in some of its outputs. Really saturated and bright reds, yellows, blues. The shapes in those photos also look really streaky, smooth and kind of untextured. It's uncanny to look at but not really uncomfortable.

I noticed this a lot more when I was using the AI like 2 months ago. The ones here are more rare, less "expressive"/surreal and more realistic than the ones I got back then. Still, it's a really cool look.
