HOW TO TIE TERMINATION KNOTS- Intro to Tree Climbing W/ Bino H & Noah Pt.8

preview_player
Показать описание
Showing Noah 3 different termination knots. 1st one Anchor Hitch. 2nd Double Fisherman's Bend. 3rd Buntline Hitch. They are good to use when using a split tail system. These knots cinch down on the carabiner or the clip so the knot does not move around.

As someone new getting into arboristry, you have no idea how helpful, or how much I appreciate your videos.

Since this is an educational video I think it's important to clarify rope terminology. A hitch connects a rope to an object. A bend connects a rope to another rope. The knot you are calling a double fisherman's bend is really called a Poachers knot(hitch). This is worth being specific about because if you tell someone to look up a double fisherman's bend in a recognized published rope/knot book, or even just to google it, the knot they find will not be the termination knot you've shown. So many people call the Poachers knot a double fisherman's because that's how they were taught it. Let's break the cycle. Not trying to bust your chops, just trying to help make the educational video you're generously spending your time and effort producing as educationy as possible. I like your content... appreciate your contribution.

Thx so much for taking your time to post this video. I follow a handful of arborists on YouTube ...and now you’re one of them. It’s one thing to post a video cutting limb after limb, but the how’s and why’s are more important. Knowing how to tie knots and hitches properly, explaining their uses and application as well as explaining what type of hardware they might be used with is key. That’s what keeps climbers safe!

In all my years of climbing since 12 years old and still swinging through trees at 58 like a champ. I have never seen Finger Nails like that. To each is there own I guess.

I've learned so much from your vids. A little more practice and more tree climbing. And then I'll be enrolled in an arborist course! Thank you for your vids! Cheers 🙂👍👍👍

Thanks for taking the time to do this so thoroughly. That looks like a really nice rope/knot/demo station you made.

Double fisherman looks and feels good. Having Noah follow up with a demo shows that patience is a virtual. I truly enjoy your channel.

Nice nice demo. Your so calm and pleasant but the giggling in the eye screw was driving me crazy, need a plasticote, ah ha, my problem not yours.
Us Mechanics get sensitive to metal on metal sounds, well some of us anyways. Jiggle jiggle, great knots, thanks..
The fear of a knot slipping is real for me as I have had a few fail from slippage and went tumbling. I never want to experience that again. A good non walking nonslipping knot is priceless.
Thanks a million.

I like the less hitches the better. For carabiners i prefer, double fisherman hitch. Thanks for instruction.

Bino, At 2.10 load end of rope is on gate side of carabiner. I believe the load should be on spine side.Great information Tho Thanks.

For the "anchor hitch" it should be tied so you're taking your wraps towards the gate of the carabiner (opposite than done on the video) this puts the load in line with the spine of the carabiner and makes it stronger.

Important to emphasize that for most hitches—the clove hitch is well known for this—it is critical that they be well and properly dressed.

Thanks Bino. Hey, Monkey Beaver kindly exchanged my large saddle for a medium, which fits much better. I'll be doing my first climbs soon.
