What WAS Behind Those Blocked Off Doors In Gen 3 Pokemon?

this one has been requested a lot but also something that was super curious to me as a kid! I wanted to go behind those doors in pokemon firered and leafgreen so BADLY and would watch videos speculating on it and messing with the loading zones. The e-reader period of pokemon really was so weird and left all these strange things to look at. gen 3 pokemon reigns supreme though

That doorway in Leaf Green pushed me to explore every inch of Kanto and the isles and everytime I did something new I would go back and check if it was unlocked. Never got back to it after I moved on and finding this clip is like closure for my inner child.

I have the e-reader cards for those rooms. Most of them are battle tower format trainers with 3 Pokemon at lvl 100 (some are weaker below lvl 100), while the rest were odd berries.

This is like the secret arena in Colosseum that had three exclusive shadow Pokémon that was Japan only. It think it was also an e-reader thing. We fans really got cheated out of a lot of stuff just because of a failed peripheral.

If we ever get a remake of Colosseum, then I hope that arena is just unlocked at some point in the story just to make up for that. It’ll probably never happen because GameFreak aren’t too bright these days when it comes to the wants of the fans, but still…I can dream.

Those areas drove me mad as a kid without the internet. Wasn't until around the Platinum era that I learned about event Pokémon, felt really upset that I would never, truly, complete the Pokédex.

I've asked Goppier (a fan who, with help, made all the Gen3 event item and pokémon distribution roms) to look into Mystery Gift to see if he can use that feature to implement a way to access the basement in FR/LG/E (and maybe e-reader berries for Emerald too). He said he'd look into it so cross your fingers and hope for the best.

It's just so tragic we lost so much content due to e-readers failure. It's insane!

I made a rom hack years ago where behind those doors, you’d encounter a hacked in fully remade sprite Regigigas and after catching it, you get to face a bug catcher trainer with the Johto dogs, Mew, Mewtwo and a Shuckle which was ridiculously strong. Despite making that rom hack, I never beat that Shuckle.

Same vibe with the Power Plant in X and Y. I thought they make it locked for post game but turn out that it was nothing 🙁
