Hi Dave, there is a far simpler way to achieve a lower than 99c price on Amazon’s US site (and it works even if you are in KU).

This relates to the fact that Amazon have a policy to not low the price to differ by more than a certain percentage, between their sites.

So, go in to your books pricing settings, and leave the US price at 99c.
Leave every other market price as ‘set by US price’, except for Australia. (Why Australia? Because our exchange rate to the US dollar is horrible! So the variation that what I am about to tell you to do will break Amazon’s acceptable percentage)
You will see that, when you let Amazon set the Australian price based on the US one, the Australian price will end up at $1.40 or often more (depending on currency exchange rates on that day)
Then manually change the book’s price to 99c for Australia.
Save your changes, let those changes publish, and give it a day or so.

Amazon will then adjust the US price down, to that it is close to the Australian price (when that is converted fromAustralian dollars to US dollars.)

The most common result is your book being priced between 61c and 72c on t Us site, depending on what the exchange rate for AUD/USD is at the time.

How did I learn this? Being Australian, I wanted to give my fellow countrymen a decent deal....

Dave - the video is in mono, left channel only just in case you didn't notice when editing and/or you've got a setting on the wrong default for your next recording.
Great information. I looked it up on the UK shop and it's about 4, 000 on there atm, but at £0.99. Oddly enough the series bundle isnt' showing up in the UK which is always frustrating because it's not completely consistent on all their sites - usually it works fine but I've seen stories of previously linked bundles breaking.
When they changed the VAT rules over her some books in the UK dropped from 99 to 89p or similar but it didn't happen to all of them. I don't think it's related though - unless it has to do with asking Amazon to set your prices based on the US price of $0.99 and then when the change happens, the book updates from £0.99 to £0.89 in the UK. I can't imagine Amazon would ever publically confirm or deny that though all we can do is speculate :)

Thanks Dave for all the support you have been giving me over the past couple of years since joining Kindlepreneur. I got five eBooks on D2D and will probably add them to Amazon when I've sorted a tax issue. I look fwd to your next video.

I feel like this would be a perfect solution to any authors who publish short stories but feel terrible publishing at the same price as a novel too. I have three shorts published myself, the longest being a bit over 30k words at $1.99. Definitely trying this - ty for the suggestion!

I can definitely see the advantages of this. Firstly, freebie seekers are very rarely actual buyers, so even if a book is priced as low as $0.60 then at least you have a buyer. Second, you're attaining rank and momentum from sales, which you don't get with a freebie. I'll probably give this a try at some point. Thanks for the video.

Hi Dave. Love ur vids. Could you do a video explaining how to get 70% royalties for a non US publisher? I read a blogpost from the website but I'm still lost. I would really appreciate it if you could do step by step video guide for a person outside US (I am from India)

I only had my right ear bud in and couldn't hear anything. Just realized it's only on the one side. It's only the voice, I can hear the swooshing.

If your book is in KU, you can't sell it anyplace else, so I guess that won't work. Bummer.
