"What do you mean my insurance won't cover it?"
"It's classified as an optional treatment."

How impressive to explain such a complex topic in such a simple way.

I'm a retired Pharmacist. I still remember dispensing pork insulin. This is amazing.

I don't even have diabetes and am in no way into biochemistry but I am so happy there are people like you out there who develop this stuff and save lives

My family has a massive history of diabetes. 2 grandparents, both of my parents and dozens of cousins on both sides. Anything that can help save diabetics lives is a godsend for me and my family.

My best friend died a few years ago - the autopsy didnt reveal any clear diagnosis from what I was told, but I highly suspect she fell victim to the "dead in bed syndrome" and that her blood sugar crashed so quickly in her sleep that she fell into a coma before she would wake up, and passed of a heart attack a few hours after.

I admire everyone working on medication or devices that help diabetic people maintain their blood sugar, like those devices that records your blood sugar 24/7 and give a loud peep and/or notification to someone nearby if your blood sugar falls low

Thank you for your work.

My oldest has type 1 diabetes from 2 years old. We fought and fought to try to balance his sugar. I would stay up at night just to catch a crash. I caught 2 that could have killed him. This is AMAZING! You have NO idea how many sleepless night this would have saved me 20 years ago!

The storytelling in this video is exemplary. First, the problem, the the thought process for approaching the problem, and THEN the amazing breakthrough you wanted us to know about. Bravo!!

Being a type 1 diabetic myself, this innovation rekindled my hope.

as a diabetic I would love this opportunity. as someone in the United States, it absolutely isn't covered and they would rather I die than live comfortably

im type 1 diabetic and i would volunteer to be experimented on with this type of insulin. Im so tired of needing to monitor my blood sugar levels and i would love to finally live with less worries that diabetes caused me

Dude, that's tremendous. Please tell your entire team that they're goddamn legends, and deserve all the good things. I'm not diabetic, but it often seemed like 90% of the patients we saw were, so this could be a huge help. Glucose monitoring is really difficult for some people, and this will probably ease their burden significantly.

I am type 1 diabetic, I expect this to hit the market about 5 years after I die from complications brought on by type 1. I fully expect the US FDA to gate keep this as long as it can to ensure the profits of the current insulin providers

I’ve had type 1 diabetes for 20 years. It’s a very difficult disease to manage, and expensive as well. I’m in a “free healthcare” country, so it doesn’t directly impact me, but it is expensive on the healthcare system. If we can get an easier life, and save money while doing it, then it would be amazing.

My grandma would give herself a huge dose and then eat a whole cake and say if she didn't it would kill her. I always thought she was lying, now I know, she just had an eating disorder.
