I'm trying the cleaner soild foe seed starting, but my raised bed is local, amended soil. I grow organic, and there's lots of life i there to help me out. Thanks for the video - I enjoy collaborations!

My experience when I started seeds and repotted plants in natural soil due to lack of funds and wondering “why not” ended in observations of how sad the roots were and what mucky and rough conditions they had to survive in. It worked but I knew it could be better. Repotting bigger plants I noticed the lack of drainage. Some plants don’t mind much like Euphorbias but many plants can’t take it like Lavenders. I always research before I choose soil. Too many potting soil formulas lately are heavy on the peat moss. Miracle Gro moisture retention to be specific. Terrible for orchids, lavender, geraniums and more but others like it. It’s really formulated for people who are forgetful waterers.

Either this is my favorite subject therefore I like the video, or you really make a compelling argument for how to grow plants in containers. Ok, both of these are true! Thank you for the videos.

Liked your video very much, always something new to learn. I don't know about the pathogens spread through soil

My experience in gardening here in the NW is that to use ground soil in containers is to be overwhelmed with weeds. And not just one flush which can be managed, but throughout the growing season.

Thanks for providing your opinon. There are some rose enthusiasts where I am at (Malaysia) who firmly believe potting soil will eventually cause root rots after 4-5 months - and they are claiming these based on their experiences. I've just started using 'made for roses potting soil' for 3 of my new roses so I will be observing them and seeing if these fears are warranted/ unwarranted. Fingers crossed. My pots are raised so there should be drainage. And yes, the light weight of potting soil is such a relief compared to heavy soil.
