Thankyou for keeping it simple so as an old person using Cubase I can understand. I guess the rule is try to cut bad frequencies before boosting others.
Some other tutorials I have watched have gone over my head with so much detail. 😀

Very helpful. Question: Is there a way to EQ a small range of a track or event, without applying it to the entire event? Can I avoid cutting the range into a new event for that purpose by instead selecting the range with the range tool, and then … what's next?
