Lichtman is almost right on this one. In fact, 90 percent of the time his reasoning works -- his 13 keys cover a lot of practical ground that affects voter behavior. Best predictive theory I know of when it comes to Presidential elections. It is true that debates have never made much if any difference. But have we ever had a debate where one of the debaters presented himself as feeble and possibly in the early stages of dementia? I mean it looked that bad. Parties have traditionally done a pretty good job of screening their candidates. Until very recently. Trump is using populist fascism to get around proper review, and Biden is getting around proper review due to elite Dems' laziness, it would seem. Someone who works with Joe on a regular basis must know that he has slipped a bit in the last 2 or 3 years. Why aren't they being listened to... or do they really think this is okay?

I realize that Professor Lichtman doesn't have an incapacitation key. But to that end, I would argue that the notion Biden can serve two terms is not a rational view of reality. Since he cannot serve two terms, Dr. Lichtman's incumbency key is gone already. The technicality of whether Biden steps aside or not is irrelevant to Lichtman's system. The Democrats no longer have that key.
