Following the first air strikes by the US on Isil militants in Syria, amateur footage has been released showing the debris from houses destroyed and emergency workers desperately trying to save those trapped under rubble.

The video comes after US forces staged the strikes in coalition with Arab allies Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

Eight US air strikes were also aimed at the hardline Khorasan Group which is made up of former al-Qaeda operatives, the Pentagon said in a statement.

In the clip, several houses in a village have been destroyed and a narrator claims some civilians are still under the debris.

In Arabic, the off-camera narrator said: "September 23, 2014. Northern Idlib countryside. Kfar Derian village. Evidence of destruction left by the Western allied airstrikes on civilians. Allahu Akbar. There are still many civilians under the debris. Allahu Akbar. This is what the Western coalition did carrying out air raids on civilians."

He later added: "September 23, northern Idlib countryside, Kfar Derian village. Allahu Akbar, a man is being lifted up from underneath the debris."
